Sustainable Management of Natural Resources Workshop in Arid and Semi-arid Areas Held in Birjand IREN: Natural Resources Sustainable Management Workshop in Arid and Semi-arid Areas was held by Carbon Sequestration Project Office in collaboration with UNDP, Desertification Affairs Bureau-FRWO as well as South Khorasan Natural Resources Department in Birjand from 5-11 December 2009.
According to public relations office of South Khorasan Dept., the workshop was organized by a team of senior experts of Central Arid Zone Research Institute of India (CAZRI) in which over 40 experts of FRWO took part from 7 desertified provinces of the country. The main topics in this workshop were the recent developments and achievements in various parts of the world in the fields of wind erosion control. salinity control, monitoring and management of runoffs, selection of species composition in terms of tree, tree like, herbaceous plants, inventory of rangeland carrying capacity and exploitation of rangelands' by- products. It is noteworthy that at the end of the workshop the participants received a certificate of attendance from CAZRI and UNDP.
